BOONE, Iowa—Governor Reynolds and the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) announced today the approval of an incentives package that will bring a new state-of-the-art production facility to Boone, Iowa. The approved state funding followed recent approval from the city of Boone.
“This project will be immensely beneficial to not only the city of Boone, but also Boone County and the entire central Iowa region,” said city of Boone Mayor Elijah Stines. “I am incredibly excited for the positive economic impact this project will bring and the continued success of Daisy Brands and their impeccable line of dairy products.”
Daisy plans to invest $626.5 million in a 750,000 square foot facility, creating 106 new jobs to start, a number anticipated to grow up to 255 as demand increases. The IEDA board approved $7 million in direct financial assistance as well as tax benefits for the company.
“Daisy Brand’s investment in Iowa further reinforces our standing as a manufacturing powerhouse and reputation for fostering an environment where businesses succeed and grow,” said Governor Reynolds in a press release. “With a third of the nation’s top food manufacturers located in Iowa and 26% of our manufacturing industry attributed to food processing, Iowa and Daisy are a perfect fit.”
Daisy Brand’s decision to build in Boone comes after an extensive search of sites across the upper Midwest covering multiple states. The Ames Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Commission, in collaboration with the City of Boone, Boone County Economic Growth Corporation, and Iowa Economic Development Authority, finalized the deal with Daisy Brands.
