Heart of Iowa Habitat Breaks Ground on 32nd Build, 5th in Ogden

Posted on 08 April 2024 by KWBG

OGDEN, Iowa—Heart of Iowa Habitat for Humanity officially broke ground on it’s next full home build in Ogden on Sunday afternoon. The project is the 32nd full build since Habitat started and is the fifth home to be constructed in Ogden, thanks to a contribution of a building lot from Zion Lutheran Church. The partner family is Aspen Castell and her son River and daughter Gracelyn.

Last year, Heart of Iowa Habitat Board Treasurer Nick Lentz noted they were not prepared to a home build, but did continue their Helping Hands home renovation efforts. Nan Sloan of the Habitat Family Support Committee noted that Castell was selected as the partner family last year and finally see the project move forward this year.

Left to Right, Paul Jacobson, Heart of Iowa Habitat Board, Brian Reimers, Zion Lutheran Church, Ron Christensen, Executive Director Heart of Iowa Habitat for Humanity, Aspen Castell with River and Gracelyn, Mark Trueblood, Ogden Mayor, Rocco Grillo, Habitat Project Manager, Nick Lentz, Heart of Iowa Habitat Board Treasurer.

Grillo on the left visits with Aspen and others about the plans for the home to be built on 319 West Cherry Street in Ogden.
