On Tuesday February 20th, 2024 the Boone County Communications Center received a call from law enforcement officials in Indiana. Officials from Indiana request Deputies of the Boone County Sheriff’s Office respond to an address within Boone County to attempt to locate a wanted individual.
The individual held an active arrest warrant issued by an Indiana court. The Boone County Communications provided this Information to on-duty patrol Deputies. Deputies responded to the address and observed a male flee into a motor home on the property.
After interviewing and speaking with other parties in the area, patrol Deputies positively identified the subject as the wanted individual. Deputies learned that the individual was in the camper with a female party and two young children. Deputies attempted to communicate with the occupants of the motor home to ensure they were safe. Deputies did not receive clear communication with any occupants of the motor home.
Deputies summoned additional Sheriff’s Office resources to the property. After nearly six hours of efforts to negotiate and initiate communication; Deputies made contact with the female party inside. The female then exited the motor home with the two young children. Deputies assisted the female and children to safety and ensured they were uninjured. Deputies continued to attempt to negotiate and communicate with the wanted subject inside the motor home.
After an extended amount of time; Deputies entered the motor home and located the wanted subject hiding in the motor home. The subject was taken into custody without further incident. The subject identified as Ronald Stevens, 38 years of age, of Indiana. Ronald Stevens was placed under arrest on his Indiana arrest warrant and is being held in the Boone County Jail pending extradition. This incident remains under investigation and may result in further charges at a later time.
The Boone County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Boone County Communications Center, Boone County Hospital, and Ogden first responders.

The vehicle led the Deputies on a 23 mile pursuit where it ended in Greene County. The driver, Xavier Hayes, 22 years of age of Carroll Iowa was arrested on charges of Eluding, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. The other occupant of the vehicle, Demedrious Lyons, 23 years of age, was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance.
