Ledges State Park Clean Up Includes Removal of Invasive Species

Posted on 02 April 2024 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—Ledges State Park Manager Andy Bartlett noted in a recent press release that since August of 2023, chainsaw crews from Conservation Corps Minnesota & Iowa, volunteers, and park staff have contributed hundreds of hours of work removing invasive shrubs from natural areas around the park. Over 40 acres of the woody invaders have been cut, stumps chemically treated to prevent resprouting, and piled for wildlife habitat. Funding for this amazing work was provided locally by quite a few partner organizations.
