BOONE, Iowa—Karol (DeMoss) Johnson, age 84, of Boone, Iowa, died Friday, March 8, 2024, at the Mary Greeley Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa.
No services will be held.
Karol was born in Storm Lake, Iowa, on November 29, 1939, the daughter of Howard and Kathryn (Johnson) DeMoss. On June 25, 1960, she married Douglas Johnson at Fonda, Iowa. Karol graduated from Fonda High School and attended Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. She was a homemaker and stay at home mother while raising her four sons, then worked various administrative assistant roles in Iowa, Texas, and Colorado. She enjoyed exploring the Anasazi ruins of Southwestern Colorado when she and Doug lived in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. She also enjoyed reading, a good glass of wine, and spending time with her family.
Karol was preceded in death by her parents; Doug, her husband of 52 years; and her sister, Jo DeMoss of Saint Paul, Minnesota. She is survived by her brother, Drew DeMoss of Denver, Colorado; four sons, Kirk Johnson and wife Holly of Boone, Blake Johnson and wife Desiree of Sherwood, Oregon, Jay Johnson and wife Kimber of Apollo Beach, Florida, and Cary Johnson and wife Dana of Davis, California; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
