MADRID, Iowa—Linda (Cox) Jones, 74, formerly of Boone, and for the past 40 years has resided at the Madrid Home in Madrid, passed away Monday March 4, 2024 in Madrid.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday, March 11, 2024 at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel, 1006 6th Street, Boone, IA 50036. Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel. Following the service, cremation will take place, with inurnment at a later date in the Pilot Mound Cemetery.
Linda was born January 7, 1950, in Boone, the daughter of Woodrow and Alice (Staley) Cox. She attended school in Boone and graduated from Boone High School in 1968.
Linda worked for a couple years at LOOK magazine in Des Moines, before starting a twenty-year career with Bournes in Ames.
Linda married Gary Grasso, they later divorced. She then was united in marriage to Gene “Dick” Jones in June 1971. Dick passed away July 6, 1978.
Linda enjoyed camping and fishing with Dick and her poodle “Boozer”.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Charles Cox, Doyle Cox and Larry Cox; niece, Darla Madden and a nephew, Wade Cox.
Linda is survived by her three sisters, Lorraine (Darwin) Madden of Stanhope, Beverly (Jeff) Huston of Boone and Vickie (Randy) Treadway of Roland; stepson, Steve Jones of Des Moines; three sisters-in-law, Nyla Cox of Boone, Ida Cox of Boone and Linda Ann Cox of Ogden; several nieces, nephews, along with great and great-great nieces and nephews.
