BOONE, Iowa—Friends of the Ledges counted 204 participants for the First Day Hike at the Ledges State Park Monday. However, there were many more joining the First Day Hike on many of the trails featured at the Ledges. The First Day Hike at the Ledges started from the Oak Woods picnic area at 11:00 and Friends of the Ledges hosted a free will donation chili feed in the Park Office afterward. Proceeds are being used to help fund some of the activities planned by the Friends for the centennial celebration in September and November. More information for the September 28th event, which is National Public Lands Day, will be forth coming. The actual dedication will be recognized on November 9th.
