BOONE, Iowa—The Boone, Iowa Outdoor Piano version 2.0 was on display Saturday in the shop of Chuck Behm. Behm began working on this version of the piano in 2019 after the first outdoor piano was no longer salvageable after three seasons in the elements. Behm said on the KWBG Tuned In Program last week, that he wanted to have something that could withstand Iowa’s weather without needing additional shelter or covering. The new Outdoor Piano has been crafted to handle rain and includes a drainage system. Saturday, Behm demonstrated by pouring water over the keys. During his open house, the piano was opened up so people could see the modifications. Behm says he still hopes to have the piano out for a couple of weeks this fall.
