BOONE, Iowa—The Boone City Council will hold a public hearing at their meeting next Monday to consider an additional development agreement for the second phase of the housing project underway at 22nd and “P” Avenue on the northside of the city. The second phase calls for the construction of 30-apartments. BJF Boone Senior, LP is the developer and has secured nearly $750,000 in tax credits through the Iowa Finance Authority. The senior housing would be for those 55-and over. The first phase, Villas at Fox Pointe, included 36-living units for families and had received over $820,000 in tax credits in late 2021. Ground on the Villas at Fox Pointe project was broken last October.

BOONE, Iowa—The Boone County Board of Supervisors will continue to collect budget information when they meet Wednesday, in the board room at the Boone County Courthouse. Budgets are expected from Boone County Emergency Management, the Communications Center and also from Sheriff Andy Godzicki for the sheriff’s office and the Boone County Jail. The meeting will be streamed on ZOOM and the link is available on the agenda on the Boone County website.

BOONE, Iowa—Voters in the Madrid School District will be voting next Tuesday to make some changes in the district’s Physical Plant Equipment Levy. The school board voted last December to put the matter to a vote. The district has had the Physical Plant Equipment Levy for nearly 15 years and it will currently expire in June 2024. The vote would actually change the source of revenue from strictly property tax to a combination of income and property taxes. Language for the PPEL question is available on this sample ballot.
