BOONE, Iowa—Sandra Sue (Underwood) Foote, a loving mom, grandma, great-grandma (GiGi), sister and aunt, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 23, 2023. She was a “small town girl” who met and married Richard Foote in 1964. In 1971, they settled in the Chicago suburbs and together they raised their family of son, Michael, and daughter, Alma.

Sandi’s unwavering love for her children grew into a deep love for grandchildren and eventually great-grandchildren. Her family meant everything to her. It was, as she said numerous times, “the thing I can be proud of in my life”.

After raising her family in the Chicago area, she was able to return to her more natural and comfortable way of life and spent the last 25 years in Boone, IA. Her warmth, genuine goodness and gentleness was naturally engaging to those around her.

She will be remembered as kind and loving while demonstrating enormous personal strength and perseverance.

She is survived by many people who loved her deeply; son, Michael (Laura) Foote and their children Ashley (Josh) Witkowski and daughter Peyton, Austin (Theresa-Ann) Foote and Collin (Tristen) Foote and son Oakley; daughter, Alma (Troy) Carey and their children Bill Carey, Emily Carey and Alex Carey; her siblings, Donny (Vera) Underwood and Bobbie Crandall; and many nieces and nephews.

Per Sandi’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services held.
