Boone Memorial Day Ceremony 2022

BOONE, Iowa—The 2022 Boone Memorial Day Ceremony was held Monday morning at the G.A.R. Plot of the Linwood Park Cemetery. Those attending were created by warm, windy conditions, and many gathered in the shade during the ceremony. Thomas Matt, Jr., U.S. Navy Lieutenant Commander (Retired) spoke about Memorial Day and remembrances.  Matt, a Boone native, graduated from Boone High School and retired from the Navy after 23 years of service.

The ceremony included laying of wreaths by the Daughters of the American Revolution and the American Legion and V.F.W Auxiliaries. Raising of the flag was conducted by Boone Boy Scouts and the Honor Guard, Firing Detail and taps were provided by the Boone Veterans Council.
