For the first time since the pandemic began, the seven-day positivity rate in Boone County has bottomed out at 0%.  No positive coronavirus tests have been recorded locally in the last week.  Now this weekend, the Iowa Department of Public Health identified seven COVID-19 deaths in the twenty-eight-hour period that ended at 2:00 on Saturday afternoon, so that number brings our state’s pandemic total to 6,131 coronavirus deaths, with 34 of those occurring in Boone County.  Also reported were just 79 new cases of COVID-19 statewide.  Iowa has had more than 404,000 coronavirus cases, 2,875 of those in Boone County, but well over 1.4 million Iowans have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19; 22,684 doses have been given in Boone County alone and greater than 365,000 Iowans have recovered from coronavirus, including 2,652 in Boone County.
