Posted on 28 March 2021 by KWBG

On Sunday, the Iowa Department of Public Health identified 499 new cases of COVID-19, a decrease of 64 from the number reported on Saturday.  Iowa has had more than 377,000 coronavirus cases, 2,689 of those in Boone County.  Two COVID-19 deaths were reported on Sunday, so the pandemic total has hit 5,718, with 31 of those occurring in Boone County.  Over 1.3 million Iowans have now been vaccinated against coronavirus; 10,965 doses have been given in Boone County alone.  Greater than 331,000 Iowans have recovered from COVID-19, including 2,388 in Boone County, but our seven-day positivity rate has gone up a percentage point in the past week to 3%.  That last number is a concern, because on Friday the White House coronavirus response team noted a rising amount of cases in Iowa and other states.
