Friends of the Ledges Planning Virtual Run/Walk/Hike Fundraiser

Posted on 29 September 2020 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—The Friends of the Ledges are inviting the public to participate in a new fundraising opportunity tied to an anniversary for the Ledges State Park.  Park Manager Andy Bartlett recently provided this information for the Friends:

As you may or may not know, on September 6th, Ledges State Park celebrated it’s 35,000th day of existence as a state park! This year also is the 100 year anniversary of our state park’s system as a whole. While the centennial celebration may not have turned out how we had originally planned, our great volunteer group, Friends of the Ledges, is encouraging our patrons to show their support for our great state park by hosting a virtual hike/walk/run this fall.
35K Days is a celebration of Fall at the Ledges. The autumn colors on the hillsides, the cool water running through the stream, and the fog that lifts off the river valley early in the mornings; all exhibit the regal nature that this beautiful park has to offer. An event page has been set up at getmeregistered.com where you can sign up for the virtual hike/walk/run. The link is here below:

Registration ends at 7:00pm on September 30th. All proceeds from your registration directly benefit Friends of the Ledges and you’ll receive a commemorative t-shirt with your registration. The money they raise goes right back to the park in the form of special projects and event support. If you’d like to find out more about Friends of the Ledges, find them on Facebook, or come to their next meeting: Thursday, October 15 – 6:30pm at the Oak Woods Shelter here at Ledges.
