Boone County Health and Sanitation and City of Fraser Release Fraser Spring Water Test Results

Posted on 31 August 2020 by KWBG

FRASER, Iowa—The Public is hereby advised that the Boone County Health and Sanitation Department was recently commissioned by a private group to conduct bacterial testing on the Fraser Spring. The results of this
test were received last week and show that there is potential contamination from bacteria which
renders this water unsafe to drink. The results were as follows:

The presence of E-Coli bacteria has the potential to cause illness. E-coli bacteria are a disease causing
bacteria that are hazardous to your health. The presence of E-coli bacteria means that the water should
not be consumed until repairs to the well, and or treatment to remedy the cause of contamination has
been found. E-coli bacteria are often found from contamination sources involving fecal matter, such as
animal manure or untreated human wastewater.
