Posted on 30 August 2020 by KWBG

On Sunday, the Iowa Department of Public Health identified 990 new cases of COVID-19, a small decrease from the 1,081 positive coronavirus tests reported twenty-four hours earlier.  Iowa has had over 64,000 cases of COVID-19 and 1,110 Iowans have died from coronavirus:  17 on Saturday, with one of those in Polk County and another in Dallas, and two in Sunday’s update.  Since 4:00 on Friday afternoon in central Iowa, 269 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Polk County for a total of 13,218; 187 this weekend in Story for 2,342; 47 in Dallas for 2,366; eight in Webster for 1,005; none in Hamilton or Greene as their totals remain at 279 and 54, respectively; and five in Boone County for 343 overall.  Statewide, there are 308 patients currently hospitalized for coronavirus, down seven from Saturday and greater than 46,500 Iowans have recovered, including 231 in Boone County.  For the one in five Iowans who have now been tested for COVID-19, the infection rate has increased – due to the inclusion this week of antigen testing results – to double digits, 10.2%.
