Iowa Homeland Security & Emergency Management Warns of Fake National Guard Letter

Posted on 29 July 2020 by KWBG

DES MOINES, Iowa—The Iowa Homeland Security & Emergency Management office in Des Moines is cautioning Iowans to be aware of a fake letter that says the National Guard is mobilizing.  The incident was reported when a resident in Guttenberg, Iowa received a letter through the mail.  The message has been around since the beginning of the pandemic, falsely claiming that the National Guard is being mobilized to enforce a nationwide quarantine, and the letter is emblazoned with an official National Guard seal.  Once again, this letter is not real.  Make sure you’re getting your information from legitimate sources.
