Boone Water Works Releases 2020 Consumer Confidence Report

Posted on 29 April 2020 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—The Boone City Water Works has released it’s most recent Consumer Confidence Report.  The report is a summary of the results of the city’s water monitoring program during 2019 and is required by the Environmental Protection Agency.  The report does provide additional information by monitoring contaminants that exceed the basic requirements.

A primary concern for the Boone Water Works is nitrate levels and once again, no violations were reported in the past year.  Turbidity had been an issue a couple of years ago, but recent projects to replace the sand filters and make other improvements at the plant have corrected those problems.

Lead and copper levels are sampled and no violations were reports.  Lead and copper is usually related to home plumbing.

The 2020 Consumer Confidence Report for the City of Boone is available on the city’s website .
