Northeast Portion of Boone Targeted for Sump Pump Inspection Program

Posted on 27 February 2020 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—The City of Boone is preparing plans for a second designated area for the city’s Sump Pump Inspection Program.  Initial results from the 10-square block area targeted during 2019 have shown good results in reducing the amount of storm water infiltrating the city’s sanitary sewer system.  City Engineer Dan Scott used flow meter information for the first targeted area, along with similar rain events to collect data that shows nearly at two-thirds reduction in flow levels.

The City Council recently acted on a staff and Utility Committee recommendation to retain the services of WHKS Engineering to again work with the city on a new targeted area.  Details are still being worked out, but the area that will see Sump Pump Inspections will be the northeast portion of Boone.
