County Conservation Considering Ordinance For High Trestle Trail

Posted on 26 February 2018 by KWBG

MADRID, Iowa—The Boone County Conservation Board has been investigating options available to deal with issues on the High Trestle Trail in Boone County.  Many concerns were raised by neighbors of the trail in southern Boone County last year.  Because of some of those complaints, lighting on the High Trestle Bridge was actually turned off earlier than normal for a while.  Boone County has always had rules in place dealing with activity on the trail, but now the Boone County Conservation Board will consider making regulations into an ordinance that could be enforceable with fines or even jail time.

The Boone County Conservation Board will be considering the ordinance matter when they meet again, March 12th at 7:00 PM in the First Floor Conference Room at the Boone County Courthouse.  A violation of these regulations will result in a simple misdemeanor with a potential maximum fine of $625 and a potential maximum jail time of 30 days.

Any public input on these regulations will be allowed at this time. The Boone County Courthouse is located at 201 State St., Boone, IA 50036.
