BOONE, Iowa—Joanne C. Efkamp, 88, of Boone, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at her home, with her family by her bedside.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel, 1006 6th Street, Boone. Funeral service will be held 10:30 A.M. Thursday, December 28, 2023, at the Central Christian Church, 803 Greene Street, Boone. Burial will be at Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.
Joanne was born September 2, 1935, in Otho, IA, the daughter of James and Maude (Devlin) Klement. She attended school in Dayton and graduated as the valedictorian from Dayton High School. Joanne loved horses and had the honor of being the Dayton Rodeo Queen.
Joanne was united in marriage to John “Jack” Efkamp on February 6, 1955, in Boone. They made their home in Boone. Joanne worked as a CNA at the Evangelical Free Church Home (Westhaven Community) in Boone.
Joanne enjoyed gardening, camping, NASCAR, watching both the women’s and men’s basketball teams from Iowa and Iowa State. She loved spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren’s activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack in 1999; grandson, Tyler Efkamp; and brother, Charles Klement.
Joanne is survived by her four children, Tony (Joleen) Efkamp, Sherri (John) Musser, Randy Efkamp and Cindy (Mike) Douglas; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ronald Klement and Gary Klement; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family, to be used at their discretion.
