DMACC Employees Receive Awards at College’s Recent All-Staff In-Service

·         Megan Snook Lautner of Norwalk Receives Distinguished Service Award.

 

·         DMACC’s Come Back Strong Committee Receives an Award for Preparing the College for a Phased Re-Opening from the COVID-19 Shutdown.

 

·         Four Employees Receive Tapestry Awards from the DMACC Diversity Commission.

 

ANKENY, Iowa—Several DMACC employees were recognized at a recent DMACC President’s Day All-Staff In-Service held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Urban Campus Academic Advisor Nicole Stepleton-Hardin of Waukee received a Distinguished Customer Service Award.  That award is given to an employee who consistently and greatly demonstrates an ability and willingness to work positively, respectfully and effectively with others; has significantly improved customer service or has increased student satisfaction in their area; demonstrates exceptional ability to foster collaboration, communication and cooperation among colleagues and members of the DMACC community.  

Ankeny Campus Academic Advisor Megan Snook Lautner of Norwalk received a Distinguished Service Award.  That award is given to an employee who consistently and greatly exceeds the expectation of the position, performing at a level above and beyond normal job requirements and expectations; has made important and significant contributions in their area; contributes and demonstrates commitment to DMACC’s mission and values.

The DMACC Come Back Strong Committee was recognized for their work in preparing the College for a phased reopening.  They have been working in coordinating with the Executive Committee to develop procedures and protocols to keep employees, students and guests safe and healthy.

The committee consists of Wade Robinson, committee chair, Art Brown, Josh Crannell, Mike Gatzke, Kari Hensen, Mike Hoffman, Tiffany Lauer, Andrew Laughlin, Greg Martin, Susan Metheny, Drew Nelson, Jenifer Owenson, Heather Riley, Mark Rosenberry, Machelle Sabin, Marcus Samson, Erica Spiller, Patsy Steffen, Jay Tiefenthaler and Jennifer Wojcik.

In addition, four DMACC employees received Tapestry Awards from the DMACC Diversity Commission. Those recipients are Urban Campus Information Specialist and Latino Club Advisor Ivon Mihura of Waukee; Newton Campus Administrative Assistant, Instructor and Phi Theta Kappa Advisor Sveta Miller of Newton; Boone Campus Student and Community Resources Coordinator Erin Neumann of Polk City; and Carroll Campus Provost Dr. Joel Lundstrom of Carroll.

The Tapestry Award is presented by the DMACC Diversity Commission to recognize individuals whose character embodies a welcoming spirit, contributes to the culture of valuing diversity and promoting awareness at DMACC, and engages in activities and events in the community.
