In honor of former Mayor George Maybee’s 90th birthday, May 5th was proclaimed George Maybee Day by Boone Mayor John Slight. An open house was held at the Eastern Star to celebrate George’s 90th birthday and to bid farewell to George and Mary as they moved to Iowa Falls to be with family.

BOONE, Iowa—The Boone County Board of Supervisors approved their annual “Be Kind to Animals Week” proclamation during their board meeting Wednesday. “Be Kind to Animals Week” is held May 5th through the 11th this year.
