The Boone County Fair Board has announced that the fair will occur as planned July 16-19. There will be a few minor changes due to COVID-19 restrictions. New Parish Hall progress continues at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Since April, Boone’s Catholic Church has been working to build a new parish hall to the west of the church.

On Sunday, June 7th, a group from Heart of Iowa Habitat for Humanity broke ground for the 29th home build in Boone for the Smelcer-Miller family.

Monday evening a Black Lives Matter demonstration was peacefully held in downtown Boone with approximately 200 people in attendance. The BLM group then marched from downtown Boone on Story Street to Mamie Eisenhower Avenue to Carroll Street, back to Mamie’s Birthplace to Eighth Street and back to 8th and Story.
