This is Jimmy. Jimmy loves people and loves to swim!! Monday evening, August 26th, was the annual dog swim “Pooches in Paradise” at the Boone Municipal pool. Over 130 dogs came to swim and brought their people with them.

The Transcontinental Convoy, with restored jeeps, trucks and other historic military vehicles will stop in Boone Saturday morning as they make their way to Jefferson for a lunch stop. The 100th anniversary convoy is a project of the Military Vehicle Preservation Association.

Friday evening from 5 to 9 the Boone Firefighters Association will be holding a fundraiser at Boone Valley Brewing Company. They will be selling shirts featuring Truck 8-66, the 2007 platform aerial ladder truck that was custom built for Boone. The reconstruction of the green space at 8th and Story Streets has been moving very quickly. The central area will have a band shelter, will accommodate the annual Christmas tree and will be available for rent for special occasions.

The National Weather Service in Des Moines has produced a weather briefing concerning the increasing confidence of severe weather late this evening into Tuesday morning. The main concerns will be damaging wind gusts and localized flash flooding, but large hail may be possible early on in the event. Isolated brief tornadoes are also possible.
