Boone softball returned to Ogden Saturday, May 31, walking away with two wins at the Bob Morgan Tournament.
The Toreadors defeated Southeast Valley 15–2 in four innings and edged Des Moines Christian 11–10 in a comeback victory.
Game 1: Boone 15, Southeast Valley 2 (4 innings)
Boone wasted no time in the opener, scoring in each of the first three innings to enforce the run rule in just four innings.
A 6-run second inning and an 8-run third blew the game wide open.
Kaylee Kuehl delivered the biggest swing of the game — a grand slam — finishing with four RBIs and two runs scored.
Brooke Weisbrod added a home run of her own, driving in two and scoring twice.
Carly Busch chipped in with a single and a double, while Claire Hardinger added two RBIs.
Mora Nystrom had three hits, including a triple, one RBI, and a stolen base.
Kuehl also earned the win in the circle, pitching four innings and striking out one.
Game 2: Boone 11, Des Moines Christian 10
The second game was a rollercoaster.
Boone trailed 6–0 after the top of the third but chipped away inning by inning before erupting for five runs in the sixth and walking it off with two more in the seventh.
Claire Hardinger came through, blasting a home run and driving in three.
Shannon Jenkins and Avery Howie each had three hits.
Howie scored twice and drove in two, while Jenkins added an RBI.
Carly Busch started in the circle and earned the win, while Brooke Weisbrod came in for relief and struck out three to shut the door.
Boone, now 4–1 on the season, returns home for a doubleheader tonight against Adel-DeSoto-Minburn.
