Boone’s balanced offense and steady pitching helped the Toreadors edge past Ogden, 6–4 , on Friday, May 30, in a competitive road matchup.
Boone jumped out to an early lead, scoring in each of the first two innings to go up 2–0.
Ogden responded with a big fourth inning, scoring four runs to briefly take the lead.
But Boone answered right back in the fifth, scoring three runs to reclaim control at 5–4.
An insurance run in the sixth sealed the win for the Toreadors.
Shannon Jenkins led the way for Boone, collecting two hits, including a double, and driving in a run.
She also earned the win in the circle, striking out three in her start.
Brooke Weisbrod came on in relief and shut the door with three strikeouts of her own.
Avery Howie and Kaylee Kuehl each had two hits, with Kuehl, Weisbrod, and Howie all contributing an RBI.
Ogden’s offense came alive in the fourth, led by Harleigh Janssen, who had two hits.
Aubrey Leonard, Adi Banks, Breaunna Wenger, Camryn Askelsen, and Grace Christensen each added a hit.
Katie Wilcoxson pitched a complete game for Ogden, striking out two and keeping her team in the game throughout.
Boone hosts Adel-DeSoto-Minburn tonight in a doubleheader while Ogden looks to bounce back at home against Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center.
