Boone girls’ tennis dominates DM Hoover

The Boone girls’ tennis team delivered a dominant performance Friday, May 16, at McHose Park, shutting out Des Moines Hoover with a 6-0 victory. 

“We moved on to the regional semifinals on Tuesday with a quick second-round win on Friday,” said head coach Shawn Latimer. 

Boone’s singles lineup had all six players winning in straight sets. 

No. 1 Kaylee Kuehl and No. 2 Livi Schneider both won, 6-0,6-0. 

No. 3 Shannon Jenkins won, 6-1, 6-0, as did No. 4 Juliana Lutz, 6-0, 6-0. 

No. 5 Ally Thompson was victorious, 6-0, 6-0, and No. 6 Claire Hardinger also won, 6-0, 6-0. 

With the match decided in singles, doubles play was not required.  

The Toreadors had their usual pairings ready: No. 1 Kuehl/Schneider, No. 2 Jenkins/Hardinger, and No. 3 Lutz/Olivia Conlin.

Boone (12-2) will face Knoxville (9-1) in the regional semifinals at 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, at the Byrnes Park Tennis Center in Waterloo.
