BOONE, Iowa—The Boone Community School District has named Cindy Bassett as its next Director of Student Services, pending board approval.
Bassett brings more than 15 years of experience in education, leadership, and student-centered programming across Iowa school districts. She most recently served as principal of Gilbert High School and previously held leadership roles in Dallas Center-Grimes and Marshalltown CSDs, in addition to serving as an adjunct instructor at Drake University.
“I’m honored to join the Boone Community School District and excited to serve in a role that supports the success of all learners,” Bassett said. “My passion lies in building systems that help both students and staff thrive, and I look forward to being part of a team that values innovation, care, and community.”
“Cindy’s deep understanding of curriculum, student services, and team leadership make her an excellent fit for Boone,” said BCSD Superintendent Julie Trepa. “Her student-first approach and proven success in program development and school improvement will help us continue to build a supportive and inclusive learning environment.”
Originally from northwest Iowa, Bassett holds a master’s degree in educational leadership from Drake University and a bachelor’s degree in secondary social studies teaching from the University of Northern Iowa. She has also been involved in initiatives focused on mental health, equity, standards-based grading, and professional learning communities.
Bassett and her husband, Nick, live in Ames with their three children: Holly, 10; Natalie, 7; and Bryson, 4. The family enjoys traveling and staying active in their children’s activities.
Bassett will officially begin her role as Director of Student Services on July 1, 2025.
