The Boone girls’ tennis team won its first road meet of the season, defeating South Hardin, 8-1, Tuesday, April 8, at Eldora.
“Our young team had a great showing on its first road trip of the season,” said head coach Shawn Latimer.
In singles, No 2. Livi Schneider won, 8-2, No. 3 Shannon Jenkins was victorious, 8-4, No. 4 Juliana Lutz prevailed, 8-0, No. 5 Ally Thompson won, 8-1, and No. 6 Claire Hardinger ended on top, 8-2.
At No. 1 Kaylee Kuehl lost her singles match, 6-8.
All 3 doubles teams also won with No. 1 Kuehl and Schneider on top, 8-1, No. 2 Jenkins and Hardinger coming out ahead, 8-0 and No. 3 Lutz and Olivia Conlin winning, 8-4.
“Kaylee lost a heartbreaker at No. 1 to a state qualifier from last year, but she and Livi bounced back and throttled them at No. 1 doubles,” Latimer said.
The Toreadors get an afternoon off before facing Marshalltown and Hoover in Des Moines beginning at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 10.
