BOONE, Iowa—Anita Marie Sheehan, age 93, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone.
Anita was the daughter of Earl Francis Day and Clara Monica (Reinsch) Day and was born on July 22, 1931 at their farm in Harrison Twp, Boone Co., Iowa near Story City. She was united in marriage with Maurice Richard Sheehan on Jule 16, 1951 at Sacred Heart Church, Boone. They lived and farmed in rural Boone County for many years, raising five children.
Anita was primarily a farm wife until she took part-time employment outside the home as her family grew. With more time on her hands, she took full-time work at Agri Pro in Napier doing alfalfa research. She loved working with neighbors and friends there until her retirement.
Anita moved from the farm into Boone where she lived on her own until her health required more care. Then she took residence at Eastern Star in Boone until her passing.
Anita was a member of Sacred Heart Church and faithfully cared for the altar linens and tended to the landscape and flowers around the buildings while she was able. She frequently hosted prayer groups in her home displaying her homemade goodies and hospitality skills to all who attended.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Maurice Sheehan; granddaughter, Jill Sheehan; three brothers; and two sisters.
She is survived by her three daughters: Deborah (Michael) Carter of Coon Rapids, Dennise (Jerry) Behn of Boone and Shelly (Jeff) Pearson of Ames and two sons: David (Rose) Sheehan of Boone and Pat (Krista) Sheehan of Madrid,; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and three sisters; Janet Cooper of TN, Marcia (Michael) Schumacher of Chicago, and Rosalee Bach of Boone.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, October 7, 2024 at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Boone. A rosary will be prayed at 9:00 A.M. on Monday, followed by visitation until the time of the Mass at the church. Following the service, the family invites you to join us for a luncheon in the Parish Hall. Thank you for your kind thoughts and expressions of sympathy. Internment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery East of Luther following the luncheon.
