The Ogden baseball team put together a dominant performance Thursday, June 12, sweeping a West Central Conference doubleheader on the road against Earlham.
The Bulldogs took Game 1 in commanding fashion, 8-0, before holding off a late Earlham rally to win a thrilling Game 2, 9-8.
Game 1: Ogden 8, Earlham 0
Ogden wasted no time setting the tone, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning.
They added four more in the third and one in the fifth to back a stellar complete-game shutout by Colson Carson, who struck out nine batters.
Keagan Ristvedt led the offensive charge with three hits, including a double, three RBIs, a run scored, and a stolen base.
Treyton Mitchell added a hit, a run, and two RBIs, while Carson helped his own cause with a hit and an RBI.
Christian Thede and Bek Anderson also contributed at the plate.
Game 2: Ogden 9, Earlham 8
Ogden built a 9-3 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh, but Earlham mounted a furious five-run rally before the Bulldogs shut the door to secure the sweep.
Tanner Rohe powered the offense with a home run, a double, three RBIs, and a run scored.
Carson stayed hot with two hits, two RBIs, and a run.
Ristvedt, Thomas Bergstrom, Mitchell, and Anderson each drove in a run, with Bergstrom scoring three times.
CeJay Jones earned the win on the mound, striking out six over a strong outing.
With the sweep, Ogden improves to 6-11 overall and 4-7 in conference play. Earlham drops to 4-10 and 3-7 in the conference.
The Bulldogs are back in action tonight as they travel to face East Sac County.
