Madrid baseball edges past Ogden

In a West Central Conference matchup, the Madrid baseball team held off a late push from Ogden to secure a 5-4 road victory on Monday, June 9 in Ogden. 

Madrid’s offense came alive in the top of the third inning, scoring four runs to take early control of the game.  

Ogden responded quickly in the bottom half of the third, scoring two runs to stay within striking distance. 

The Bulldogs continued to chip away, scoring one run in both the fourth and fifth innings to narrow the gap to 5-4.  

However, Madrid added a crucial insurance run in the sixth and held strong down the stretch. 

For Madrid, Kole Deppe had a double that drove in three runs, and Preston Wicker added an RBI single.  

Connor Petticord also contributed with a hit and a run scored. 

For Ogden, Treyton Mitchell had a double, an RBI, and two stolen bases on the night. 

Keagan Ristvedt added a hit and crossed the plate once, while Colson Carson chipped in an RBI. 

Emerson Bridgewater earned the win for Madrid, striking out three in his start.  

Deppe was on the mound in relief to close out the game, recording the save with one strikeout. 

Ogden’s Tanner Rohe pitched a complete game with six strikeouts.
