Boone baseball blasts Ames at home

Posted on 09 June 2025 by KWBG

The Boone baseball team blasted Ames, 12-2, Friday, June 6, at Memorial Park in a five-inning non-conference matchup.

The win pushed Boone’s record to an impressive 9-2 and marked the team’s debut at No. 8 in the Class 3A rankings released today by the Radio Iowa/Baseball Coaches Association.

Ames struck first with two runs in the top of the first, but Boone quickly responded with three in the bottom half and never looked back.

The Toreadors added two more in the second and scored seven runs in the fourth to enforce the mercy rule.

Tate Carlson led the offensive charge with two hits, three RBIs, and a run scored.

Noah Daives and Cole Bowers each chipped in with a hit and two RBIs apiece.

On the mound, Landon Youngblood went the distance with a complete game and four strikeouts to earn the win.

Boone has a home Raccoon River conference doubleheader against Carlisle (7-6) tonight at 5:00 and 7:30 p.m., again at Memorial Park.
