The Boone baseball team battled Saydel in a non-conference doubleheader Thursday, June 5, at Memorial Park.
Boone dropped Game 1, 7-6, but roared back with an 11-5 win in Game 2 to split the series.
Game 1: Saydel 7, Boone 6
Dylan England led the charge, collecting three hits, scoring twice, driving in two runs, and stealing a base.
Noah Davies added two hits and a run, while Tyler Lindahl chipped in with two RBIs and a run scored.
Reid Carr took the loss in relief, recording one strikeout in his outing.
Game 2: Boone 11, Saydel 5
Boone bounced back in the nightcap.
The Toreadors struck early with two runs in the first and three more in the second.
They added a run in the fourth and exploded for six in the sixth to put the game out of reach.
England continued his hot streak with two hits, a double, a run scored, and three RBIs.
Davies had a hit, two runs, three RBIs, and a stolen base.
Tyce Carlson added two hits and a run, while Cole Bowers and Lindahl each drove in two runs.
Lindahl also earned the win in relief, striking out three.
Saydel mounted a brief comeback with four runs in the fourth and one in the seventh, but Boone was victorious.
With the split, both Boone and Saydel now sit at 8-2 on the season.
Boone will look to carry the momentum from Game 2 into tonight’s matchup against Ames (9-7), set for 7 p.m. at Memorial Park.
