The Boone softball team earned a win in Game 1 before falling in Game 2 as it split a doubleheader with Class 4A No. 5-ranked Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Monday, June 2, at Gary Creasman Field.
Game 1: Boone 6, ADM 2
Boone came out strong in the opener, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first and adding three more in the fourth to secure a 6-2 victory.
The Toreadors had a solid pitching performance from Carly Busch, who went the distance and struck out four.
Mora Nystrom led the offense with a double and two RBIs.
Avery Howie added a hit and an RBI, while Brooke Weisbrod and Haille Bingham each chipped in with a hit.
With the win, Boone took down a top-five opponent in front of the home crowd.
Game 2: ADM 13, Boone 1 (4 innings)
ADM bounced back in the nightcap, using a powerful offensive surge to take Game 2 in four innings.
Boone managed just one run, scored by Kaylee Kuehl, who also had a hit.
Shannon Jenkins drove in the lone RBI and pitched in relief, recording one strikeout.
Nystrom and Sydney Adams each added a hit.
The split moves the team to 5-2 on the season while ADM sits at 4-2.
Boone will host Saydel (0-4) on Thursday at 7:15 p.m. at Gary Creasman Field.
The game will be broadcast live on AM 1590, FM 101.5, and streamed at kwbglive.com, with sports director Ryan Wendt on the call.
