The Boone baseball team swept Adel-DeSoto-Minburn in a doubleheader on its home field Monday, June 2.
Boone took Game 1 in commanding fashion, 18-0 in four innings, and followed it up with a thrilling 8-7 walk-off win in Game 2.
Game 1: Boone 18, ADM 0 (4 innings)
Boone wasted no time setting the tone, scoring three runs in the first inning, eight in the second, and seven more in the third to end the game early via the run rule.
Lucas Moore led the offensive charge with three hits, including a double, and scored twice.
Landon Youngblood added a double and a triple, driving in three runs.
Dylan England had three hits, three runs scored, and two RBIs, while Noah Davies chipped in with two hits, including a triple, and two RBIs.
Tate Carlson, Drew Hayworth, and Ryan Bowers each contributed two RBIs and two runs scored.
On the mound, Reid Carr pitched a complete game, allowing no runs and striking out one.
Game 2: Boone 8, ADM 7
The nightcap was a much tighter contest.
ADM built a steady lead, scoring in five of the first six innings.
But Boone had a three-run fifth inning and a dramatic two-run rally in the bottom of the seventh to walk it off.
Dylan England stayed hot with two hits, a run, an RBI, and a stolen base.
Tate Carlson added two hits and two RBIs, while Cole Bowers delivered a clutch hit that drove in three runs.
Landon Youngblood came in as a reliever and earned the win with two strikeouts.
Starter Walker Smith struck out three in his outing.
With the sweep, Boone improves to 7-1 on the season, while ADM drops to 3-4.
Boone will host Saydel (6-1) in a doubleheader Thursday, June 5, at Memorial Park.
First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
