BOONE, Iowa—Boone County had a nice turnout for the planned Memorial and Plaque Dedication Service at the Boone County Home Cemetery north of Boone. The Boone Ministerial Association led the public memorial service to consecrate the land, with a liturgy including the reading of the names of those buried in the cemetery, and a recommittal liturgy.
The work on collecting information and telling the history was undertaken by Bea Upah. There is one lone headstone remaining in the cemetery. She told the audience Sunday that she used local resources and fortunately found others that had been collecting historical information for other groups and were willing to share the information. The historical presentation by Upah was made at the Long Memorial Park, the site of the former County Home.
