Boone used early offense and a strong pitching performance from Tyler Lindahl to secure a 5–3 road win over Ogden on Friday, May 30, improving to 5–1 on the season.
Ogden struck first with a run in the bottom of the first, but Boone quickly responded, tying the game, 1–1, in the top of the second.
Boone broke things open in the third, scoring three runs behind a home run from Dylan England that drove in three and gave the Toreadors a 4–1 lead.
Boone added an insurance run in the sixth to stretch the lead to 5–1.
Luke Moore finished the night with three hits, including a triple, a double, two runs scored, and two stolen bases.
On the mound, Lindahl tossed a complete game with three strikeouts.
He kept Ogden’s bats quiet until the seventh, when the Bulldogs mounted a late rally, scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh.
But Lindahl shut the door and sealed the win.
Tanner Rohe was a bright spot for Ogden, going 3-for-4 with a double, two singles and two runs scored.
Treyton Mitchell and Thomas Bergstrom each added an RBI single.
Bergstrom started for the Bulldogs and struck out four, while Colson Carlson added four more strikeouts in relief.
Boone now turns its attention to a home doubleheader tonight against Adel-DeSoto-Minburn, while Ogden (3–4) looks to bounce back as they host Adair-Casey Guthrie Center tonight.
