Boone softball dominates Ballard

Posted on 29 May 2025 by KWBG

The Boone softball team defeated Raccoon River Conference rival Ballard, 10-2, in five innings Wednesday, May 28, in Huxley.

The win was a milestone moment for head coach Erica Olson, who notched her 100th career victory.

Boone wasted no time getting on the board, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning and following up with four more in the second.

The Toreadors added two in the third and capped their scoring with one in the fifth.

Ballard managed single runs in the second and fifth innings but couldn’t keep pace with Boone.

Carly Busch led the charge both at the plate and in the circle.

She tallied three hits, scored four runs, stole three bases, and pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts.

Brooke Weisbrod delivered the biggest blow of the night — a three-run home run — and finished with two runs scored and three RBIs.

Shannon Jenkins added two hits, and Avery Howie chipped in with two RBIs.

With the win, Boone improves to 1-1 on the season, matching Ballard’s record.

The Toreadors now turn their attention to a busy weekend, traveling to Ogden on Friday, May 30, for a 5:30 p.m. non-conference game, followed by a return trip Saturday for the Bob Morgan Classic Tournament.
