In a Raccoon River Conference matchup on Wednesday, May 28, the Boone baseball team fell to the Ballard Bombers, 3-1, at Slater.
Ballard struck early, scoring a run in the bottom of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead.
The Bombers added two more in the fifth to extend their advantage to 3-0.
In the top of the sixth, Dylan England launched a solo home run, his only hit of the night, to put the Toreadors on the board.
Despite the momentum shift, Boone was unable to close the gap in the final innings.
Lucas Moore and Tate Carlson each collected two hits for Boone.
On the mound, Reid Carr delivered a complete-game performance, striking out three.
The loss marks Boone’s first of the season, dropping their record to 4-1, while Ballard remains unbeaten at 6-0.
The Toreadors will look to bounce back on Friday, May 30, when they travel to Ogden for a 7 p.m. non-conference showdown.
