Posted on 28 May 2025 by KWBG

JOHNSTON, Iowa — The Iowa National Guard will hold 24 community-based send-off ceremonies across the state from May 28–30, 2025, in honor of approximately 1,800 Iowa soldiers deploying to the Middle East in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.

These ceremonies will provide an opportunity for Iowans to recognize and show their support for these service members and their families. The public and media are encouraged to attend and help celebrate the bravery and commitment of these men and women from communities across Iowa.

“These send-offs are a vital tradition,” said Major General Stephen Osborn, Adjutant General of the Iowa National Guard. “They represent not only the courage and dedication of our soldiers but also the unwavering support of the communities that stand behind them. We encourage Iowans to attend, show their gratitude, and stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our troops as they embark on this important mission.”

Locally, the Send-Off Ceremony in Boone (Brigade Headquarters) will be held at 3:00 this afternoon at the Boone Speedway, 1481 223rd Place. 92 troops will deploy from Boone.
