The Boone girls’ soccer team kicked off its postseason Friday, May 23, defeating Grinnell 3–1 in the Class 2A, Region 3 quarterfinal at Goeppinger Field in Boone.
With the win, the Toreadors improved to 6-11-2 and advanced to the regional semifinals.
Boone came out strong in the first half, netting two goals to take early control of the match.
Both teams scored a goal in the second half, giving Boone the win.
Emma Thomas, Myley Brown and Addie Tungesvik all scored one goal in the victory.
Bry Morgan and Grace Roys each recorded an assist.
Goalkeeper Ava Johnson recorded three saves, keeping Grinnell at bay.
Grinnell ends its season with a 4-8-3 record, while Boone moves on to face North Polk (12-2-2) in the regional semifinal.
That match is set for 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28, in Alleman.
