The Ogden girls’ track team set 4 school records and advanced 7 events to state at the Class 2A state qualifying meet on Thursday, May 15, in Ogden.
Leading the way for Ogden was Taydem Graden, who soared to a first-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 18 feet, 10.5 inches, setting a new school record. Graden also anchored multiple relays.
Samantha Lass claimed first place in the high jump, clearing 5 feet, 1 inch.
The Bulldogs’ 4×100-meter relay team of Aubrey Leonard, Sydney King, Breaunna Wenger, and Graden finished second with a time of 50.47 seconds, breaking the school record and punching their ticket to Des Moines.
In the 4×400-meter relay, the team of Wenger, King, Dakota Jones, and Lass also earned a second-place finish in 4:12.04, securing another state qualification.
The shuttle hurdle relay team of Leonard, Alena Wilson, Hazel Friedrichsen, and Graden added to the excitement, placing second in 1:07.18 and setting yet another school record.
Ogden also celebrated a school record in the distance medley relay, with Wenger, King, Lass, and Jones clocking in at 4:22.95.
The sprint medley relay team of Graden, Wenger, King, and Lass finished 3rd in 1:53.32.
Events finishing 1st or 2nd at the state qualifying meet automatically advanced to state for Class 3A with the distance medley and sprint medley qualifying at-large.
Ogden finished in 4th place with 72 points, and Van Meter won the meet with 152 points.

The Bulldogs now turn their focus to the Iowa High School Track & Field Championships, set for Thursday-Saturday, May 22–24, at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.
