Boone girls’ track wins Nevada meet

The Boone girls’ track team won the Nevada Girls Invitational on Monday, May 12.  

The Toreadors topped the final team standings with 125.33 points, ahead of West Marshall’s 115.5 points. 

The sprint medley relay team, consisting of Avery Howie, Mia Graeve, Taylor Arringdale, and Carly Busch, claimed first place with a time of 1:52.86.  

Piper Klein took first place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:42.09. 

Busch dominated the sprints, winning the 100-meter dash in 12.82 and the 200-meter dash in 27.14.  

The 4×400-meter relay team of Klein, Norah Baber, Cailynne Peruti, and Mady Davidson, finished second with a time of 4:48.25. 

Arringdale took second place in the long jump with a leap of 15-01.50. 

 Emma Wiebold and Jen LaMar also were second-place finishers in the shot put (37-04) and discus (107-04), respectively. 

The track teams will compete at the 3A state qualifying meet at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 15, at Nevada. 

Teams at the meet include Boone, Humboldt, Nevada, North Polk, Webster City, Carroll Ballard and Gilbert.
