Boone boys’ soccer shuts out PCM

The Boone boys’ soccer team secured a 5-0 victory against Prairie City-Monroe Monday, May 12, at Monroe. 

The Toreadors dominated the match, scoring three goals in the first half and adding two more in the second half.  

Dylan Bolton and Blake Gradoville each netted two goals, while Davide Ioppolo contributed one.  

Holden Davis provided two assists, with Isaac Dodd, Ioppolo, and Bolton each adding one assist.  

Goalkeeper Ben Seligman made four saves.  

The win improves Boone’s record to 8-5-2, finishing the regular season third in the Raccoon River Conference behind Gilbert and North Polk.  

PCM falls to 3-9-1.  

Boone will face their first-round opponent in the 3A soccer substate Monday, May 19. 

Girls lose at Denison 

In girls’ soccer, Boone faced Denison-Schleswig and lost, 4-1, Monday, May 12, in Denison.  

Boone’s record now stands at 5-9-2, while Denison-Schleswig improved to 8-5-2. 

The girls will play Des Moines North (5-8) on Friday, May 16, at 5:30 p.m. at Goeppinger Field.
