Boone girls’ tennis takes down Creston

The Boone girls’ tennis team took down Creston, 9-0, Monday, May 5, at Creston. 

“It was a great team road win over a talented Creston team that was 8-3 on the year,” said head coach Shawn Latimer. 

The Toreadors swept the singles with No. 1 Kaylee Kuehl winning, 8-5, and No. 2 Livi Schneider winning, 8-4. 

No. 3 Shannon Jenkins won 8-2, and No. 4 Juliana Lutz swept her opponent, 8-0. 

No. 5 Ally Thompson won in tiebreaker, 9-7, while No. 6 Claire Hardinger won, 8-3. 

For the doubles, No. 1 Kuehl and Schneider won. 8-5. 

No. 2 Jenkins and Hardinger won, 8-4, and No. 3 Lutz and Olivia Conlin won, 8-3. 

“The shutout victory moved the team to 10-2 on the year,” Latimer said. 

Boone will travel Thursday, May 2, to Huxley to face Ballard for the last regular season meet. 

The Toreadors also learned where they are headed for the Class 1A singles and doubles regional tournament yesterday afternoon. 

Boone will travel to Denison-Schleswig Monday, May 12, for the tournament, which begins at 9 a.m. 

Region 2 includes Audubon, Ballard, Sioux City Bishop Heelan, Boone, Denison-Schleswig, Harlan Community, Carrol Kuemper Catholic and South Hardin.
