AMES, Iowa—Patricia Ann (Lundgren) Bennett of Ames, formally from Boone, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother peacefully passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2025, surrounded by family and love in her daughter’s home. She was 92 years old.
Born with a heart full of warmth and a spirit of quiet strength, Patricia was the devoted wife of the late Donald Bennett, with whom she shared a deep love and enduring partnership. Together, they built a life centered on family and faith. Patricia’s love for Jesus was the guiding light of her life — a love she shared openly and generously with those around her. Her Bible was always nearby, its pages well-worn from years of study and prayer. She hosted Bible studies, where friends and neighbors would gather for fellowship, reflection, and encouragement. Her faith wasn’t just something she believed — it was how she lived, with grace, humility, and a quiet strength that came from trusting in God’s promises. She found joy in the simple blessings of everyday life, always giving thanks and pointing others toward the hope and peace she found in Christ.
Patricia had a special fondness for collecting chickens, a knack for making the most irresistible caramel corn, and was known by all for her radiant smile that could light up a room. She was a strong, patient, and an endlessly giving woman, known for her unwavering dedication to her family and her deep sense of grace in all she did. Her door was always open and never locked.
She is survived by her children Randy, Steve, Becky, Jeff, Jenny, Patty, and Elizabeth; 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her cherished daughter Peggy; great-grandson, Benji; her beloved husband, Donald; sister, Beverly; brother, Jack; and her parents, Irene and John.
Patricia’s family members fondly remember themed parties, bringing the family together, yearly traditional bingo parties, Monday night sewing lessons to anyone who wanted to learn, roast dinner after church every Sunday, coloring with the kids, watching Little House on the Prairie while eating crackers in milk, going to Grand-Camp with great-grandkids, each grand-kid getting to spend a one week with Grandma, adventures in Colorado, and hanging out at Memory Lane where she worked.
She was the rock of the family and will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel, 1006 6th Street, Boone. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM, Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Central Christian Church, 803 Greene Street, Boone, with Pastor Clayton Boyd officiating. Burial is in Linwood Park Cemetery, Boone.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. Online condolences may be left to Patricia’s family at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com
