The Madrid boys’ basketball team marched past Moravia, 87-47, Thursday, February 20, in Madrid in district basketball play.
The Tigers took a 28-16 lead after the first quarter and were up, 53-28, at the half.
A strong 3rd quarter put Madrid ahead, 78-33, and they took the victory, 87-47.
Toryn Severson led the Tigers again with 25 points on 10 field goals, 3 3-pointers and 2 free throws.
Fabian Ortiz-Alaniz scored 18 points on 7 field goals and 4 3-pointers, while Emerson Bridgewater had 17 points on 7 field goals and 3 3-pointers.
Ortiz-Alaniz had 9 assists while Bridgewater had 4.
Jevyn Severson had 9 rebounds, 1 block and 1 steal while Toryn Severson had 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
Madrid face Lynnville-Sully in their Class1A district final at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Des Moines Lincoln Roundhouse.
The Tigers have an overall record of 23-0, and the Hawks are 18-5 overall.
