BOONE, Iowa—Dr. Scott Thiel of Boone currently serves as the Boone County Medical Examiner along with Deputy Medical Examiner Dr. Eric Peterson of Boone. Both are Family Practice Physicians, but area also appointed to fill the Medical Examiner position by the Boone County Supervisors. Last Friday in Des Moines, Thiel was presented the Distinguished Service Award by the Iowa Association of County Medical Examiners with the award presented by his colleague Peterson. Thiel was nominated because of his professional handling of difficult death scene and his compassion for family members.
